YEAR 6 VISIT THE BRITISH MUSEUM - 15TH SEPTEMBER 2017

Year 6 visited the British Museum in London as part of their topic, Ancient Greece.  The children listened to a very informative lecture about how to recognise some of the Greek Gods by various visual clues; for example, Heracles wore a lion skin, carried a club and bow & arrow; whereas Hermes carried a staff, wore a hat and had winged boots.  This knowledge was handy when the children explored the Museum and were able to spot some of the Gods depicted on the ancient artefacts. It was fascinating to see the vast scale of the Parthenon and also how chariot racing, theatre and combat played an important role in Ancient Greek life.
