THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNING COMMITTEE

In June 2025, Robert Piggott Infant and Junior Schools joined Agape Multi-Academy Trust (MAT).  Each school within Agape MAT has its own Local Governing Committee whose role and responsibilities are set out in the scheme of delegation and terms of reference.

The Local Governing Committee is made up of elected and appointed members of the community and is responsible, with the Executive Headteacher and staff for the management of the school, to ensuring that the school provides all of its pupils with a high quality education.

The Committee is made up of representatives elected or appointed from many groups in the local community:

• Parent Governors - elected parents
• Foundation Governors  -  appointed with the consent of the Diocese of Oxford
• Co-opted Governors  -  living or working in the community served by the school who can bring specific skills or expertise
• Staff Governor  - an elected member of teaching or non-teaching staff.
