Clubs Summer 2026

INFANT ART CLUB WEEK 2 29/04/2026

The children created fantastic rockets today!

They drew confident rocket shapes with metallic oil pastels, adding boosters, portholes and stripes.   They painted the background first using a mixture of blue and black, making sure to smooth out any lumps and bumps, so the paint would be dry, and we could add yellow stars at the end of the lesson.  They were given a limited palette of blue, silver and orange to paint their rocket and encouraged to paint each brush stroke separately, taking the brush off after each stroke – to try and move away from the circular motion they all love.  It was suggested they should add more than one layer and to paint up to the edges.   They also added red, orange and yellow take-off flames.  Once painted, they tackled the tricky challenge of outlining in black, which tidies the painting ups and makes them pop off the page.  What talented children who all managed this really well – lots of dipping in the black paint, using the tip of the brush and not pressing too hard all really helped.
