We'll meet again.............. see you in Year 6! 2

Welcome to Chestnut class!

We are taught by Miss. Shepherd and supported by Miss. Corps and

Mr. Grosvenor in the morning.

We had an amazing time at Bushcraft, near Knebworth. On the first day we learnt to make fires and cooked our lunch on the fires that we had made. We were put in three tribes: Woodland Creatures, Tree Kangaroos and Three Lions. Each tribe made a shelter.

We were taught first aid skills on Tuesday and had to put them to the test when we discovered our teachers in a plane crash in the woods. We carried them away from danger and performed first aid on them. They all survived…. We also made bush bracelets with special cord and learnt how to use knives safely.

Some of us slept out under our shelters on the second night. We were very warm and most slept better than in the tents the night before.

On the last day we were taught how to tie knots and make animal traps. We put our skills into practice by trapping Miss Shepherd, Mr Grosvenor and Mrs Tawse! At the end the Bushcraft champions were announced: Tree Kangaroos!

Thank you to the amazing Bushcraft team who looked after us so well.

Our topic this half term: WWII

Make Do and Mend

After half term we will be "Making Do and Mending" - the children will be making something new from something old in the spirit of World War 2 making do. They will plan what to make before half term, and will need to collect the necessary materials over half term. They have to make something useful, and cannot buy anything that they might need - it has to be recycled. We have warned them not to "borrow" anything without asking first!

In Topic we learnt about evacuation during WWII. We made our own identity tags and pretended to be evacuated from London to the countryside for safety during the war.
