Week 6 Other Activities
I am sure you have been reading lots during the day but without even realising it! Reading comes in many forms - novels, poems, fact files, cards, magazines, encyclopedias etc. Whatever you enjoy to read, please try to do a little each day, and use your 'story telling voice' when you read aloud to others. If you get a chance, discuss what you've read with a grown up or a friend - sharing your understanding is one of the best things you can do as a reader, it also gives someone else the chance to learn something new. But above all, have fun reading!
If you were still on the Read Write Inc scheme before school closed you could use Ruth Miskin's Speed Sound lessons online. Watching set 2 Speed Sound lessons are great for revision and the set 3 Speed Sound lessons are great to carry on moving through the scheme. Take a look here:
The spellings this week are:
whole, behind, kind, because, floor, mind, find, poor, door, our.
For further challenge why not try 10 from our 'Paddington' book, they are:
luggage, unusual, carefully, exclaimed, hastily, nervously, haste, murmured, fierce, whispered.
Using these spellings in a paragraph, writing them in chalk on the driveway, making a nonsense sentence out of them, rainbow writing them, or even putting them into a word search will make them more memorable. Soon they be part of your child's vocabulary and will begin springing up in writing all over the place! I love it when this happens, it means they have passed from short term to long term memory. Please have fun learning these tricky words.
We will continue with the White Rose lessons, Week 6 but it will say 1st June, don't worry we won't run out!! We are attaching the worksheets for each day and had requests for the answers too, they are in a block below the sheets.
BBC Bitesize have daily lessons linked to the White Rose learning, so if you want to continue the learning here is the link:
Daily 10 this week focusses on ordering numbers - an important basic skill, for example in mental addition it helps to identify the largest number and count on from that one. This week you can try Level 3, ordering numbers - then chose any of the options. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10
If you still want more challenge in Maths, there are some additional links and sheets to have fun with!
We hope you have lots of fun with your learning, please remember to ONLY DO WHAT YOU CAN, you don't have to do everything every day- we wouldn't if we were in school!
