Week 5 Other Activities
Reading comes in many forms - novels, poems, fact files, cards, magazines etc - and therefore we can find ourselves reading lots during the day without even realising it! Whatever you enjoy to read, please try to do a little each day, and use your 'story telling voice' to read aloud to others. If you get a chance, discuss what you've read with a grown up or a friend - sharing your understanding is one of the best things you can do as a reader, it also gives someone else the chance to learn something new. But above all, have fun reading!
If you were still on the Read Write Inc scheme before school closed you could use Ruth Miskin's Speed Sound lessons online. Watching set 2 Speed Sound lessons are great for revision and the set 3 Speed Sound lessons are great to carry on moving through the scheme. Take a look here:
This week's 10 spellings are:
told hold gold cold clothes many old only children
For an extra challenge why not use 10 words from this week's book:
aeroplane doorway police joined caught violin Brazil Berlin Japan Spain
There are lots of ways to learn spellings, but to make it more fun why not try:
1. Using these words to begin a sentence (tricky!)
2. Putting them into a word search
3. Making an anagram for them (super challenge!)
4. Look, Cover, Write
5. Put each of them into a sentence
6. Rainbow writing - do them in a colour and repeat over the word with a different colour until you have a rainbow
7. Get as many as you can into one sentence - it has to make sense though!
8. Choose one word and use it as many times as you can in one sentence.
Please continue to use the White Rose maths videos. This week is Week 5,18th May . The worksheets are no longer freely available, so we have attached the PDFs of the sheets for each day below.
If you want to do even more on the same topic, the BBC Bitesize lesson for that day has more videos and work to do!
Continue to practice your Daily Ten.
This week it is digit values, Level 2 . If you improve your score everyday, reduce the amount of time!
If you still want more challenge in Maths, there are some additional links and sheets to have fun with!
We hope you have lots of fun with your learning, please remember to ONLY DO WHAT YOU CAN, you don't have to do everything every day- we wouldn't if we were in school!
