Year 1 & 2 - Owl & Woodpecker classes

Autumn 2025

Welcome back to the Autumn term and a new academic year! We love starting afresh in September, excited for little minds to learn and develop, after what we can imagine was a summer of fun!

CONCEPTS: Grace, Respect & Diversity

This term our topic is 'Big & Small' as we focus on understanding basic geographical language, especially when referring to physical features we can find in our environments. We will also be looking at significant people within our living memory in History, focusing on Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III. In English, we start with looking at the story 'Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs' as our stimulus, focusing around our understanding of big vs small and the importance of respecting things, no matter their size. Science learning will be focused around the seasonal changes we can see moving into the Autumn and Winter seasona and looking at animals, including humans, focusing around naming different animals within mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. In our creative subjects; we will be focusing on colour and patter in Art, looking at Klimt's Tree of Life; making slides and levers in our DT lessons; and looking at pulse and rhythm in Music. We also have RE, PSHE, Computing and two PE lessons a week.  So much to look forward to!

Please check on this page regularly to find information about what is going on in school and lots of photos of what the children have been up to.
