RPI LEARNING HUB MURAL
Wed 12 Feb 2020Local artist, Rosie Smith, returned to the Infant School to help the children create a mural in their new learning hub. As part of the launch of our new school vision incorporating the bible passage ‘ A tree is known by its fruits’ Matthew 12v33, the children, along with Rosie, used the image of a horse chestnut tree and incorporated a leaf from every child and staff member at the school. We also had other members of the local community incorporate their print too. It was wonderful to see our vision come to life in this way. -

RPJ MAIDENHEAD MOSQUE VISIT
Wed 29 Jan 2020Year 5 & 6 visited the Maidenhead Mosque to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Muslim faith. The Mosque is 37 years old and was designed by a Jewish architect. The dome was initially modelled on the mosque in Jerusalem (gold-coloured) but is now modelled on a mosque in Egypt.
We learnt that the Minaret outside was used to call Muslims to prayer. They no longer do this in Maidenhead so as not to disturb the residents. In Islamic countries a person climbs the tower and calls out 'hurry up and come to pray' – The Azan.
The Imman leads worship in the Mihrab (an area which sticks out from the main mosque and is the closest point to Mecca). We were shown a Koran and learnt that Arabic writing goes from right to left. There were Koran holders which are used to make sure that the Koran does not touch the floor.

RPI CHRISTMAS LUNCH
Wed 18 Dec 2019We are almost at the end of term but there is one Christmas tradition we have kept until last - a delicious Christmas lunch!
There was a flurry of sequin snowflakes, rosy red reindeers and cheeky elves around school today as children and staff all dressed in their Christmas jumpers and got creative, making their party hats ready for Christmas lunch.
Staff served the children before sitting down with everyone else to join in and enjoy lunch themselves. We had Christmas music and a rousing 'three cheers' for our cooks who prepared a fabulous lunch for our 108 children and 20 staff.
Afterwards, we returned the favour and served lunch to our cooks and lunchtime controllers. They thoroughly deserved a sit down and some treats as a thank you for all their hard work throughout the year.

RPJ INTER HOUSE CAROL COMPETITION
Mon 16 Dec 2019On Monday 16th December the Junior School children held the 'traditional'
Inter House Carol Competition.
The House Captains and Vice Captains guided the children in their
House group in rehearsing and performing two songs;
a traditional carol and a modern Christmas song.
Competition was fierce, with Yellow and Green House competing in a sing-off. Yellow House were the final winners.
Thank you to our judges:
Mrs Akers, Mrs Cook, Mr Jeary & Mr Etwell
and congratulations to the
House Captains and children who performed with enthusiasm.
