RPI PETS AS THERAPY
Mon 16 Dec 2019Hattie the 'Read2 Dog' and her owner from Pets as Therapy came to introduce themselves to the children on Monday. Hattie will be joining us at the Infant School on Thursday afternoons to support children develop confidence and well-being. Children will be invited to read to Hattie and, if they want to, stroke her and even give her a small treat afterwards. If Monday afternoon was anything to go by, Hattie will be a very popular new member of our school community!

RPI CHRISTMAS PLAY
Fri 13 Dec 2019One of the most exciting events in the Infant School calendar is the Christmas Production. The children and staff work collaboratively to write, rehearse and perform the Nativity Story told in their own unique and creative way.
This year they tied in their learning from a trip to Bekonscot Model Village and had their narrators travelling through each scene of the Nativity on the model train! Each class then developed the ideas for their own scenes so we have an eclectic mix of news reading angels delivering the Good News to Mary, rapping stars being followed by slightly confused Wise Men, guitar playing shepherds, dancing sheep, animals performing ballet around Mary and Joseph and gorgeous animals working hard to keep quiet and not wake the baby!
It was a wonderful performance and we need to say a big thank you to Rosie Creedon who again helped us with the singing and music and Mary Ilbert who helped make costumes for a number of the children.
It was very apt to finish off with 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' as that is what we wish our whole school community.

RPI CHRISTMAS GIFT ASSEMBLY
Mon 09 Dec 2019After the children had decorated our Christmas Tree, Jan Howlin from the Salvation Army joined us for our Gift Assembly.
We heard about why there is a need for these gifts and how the Wise Men showed us the value of giving when they brought their gifts to Jesus. The children carried their gifts to the front and set them around the tree. There was a wonderful array of gifts by the time the last child had set theirs down. Mrs Howlin also complimented the children on their lovely singing!
Thank you to all our families for donating so generously, especially those of you who gave extra presents which we always use as spares!

RPI CHRISTMAS TREE CEREMONY
Fri 06 Dec 2019The Infant School held their annual Christmas Tree Ceremony on Friday 6th December. The children spent the morning creating decorations and excitement was rising as we all gathered to sing carols and place our shining stars, snowflakes and Santas on the tree.
We were joined by our PTA Class Reps and were treated to a poem by two children from Woodpecker Class before we descended on the tree!
I'm sure you'll agree that it certainly looks festive. It is all ready now for the gifts we will bring which will be donated to children through the Salvation Army.

RPI CHRISTINGLE SERVICE
Wed 04 Dec 2019The Christmas season truly begins at the Infant School when we all walk to St Mary's Church in the village to celebrate Christingle. Parents, staff and children join together to sing, listen to readings and light the Christingles to reflect on the history of Christingle and the true meaning of Christmas.
Thank you to Mrs Rosie Creedon who helped us so much with the music for the service and Rev Hugh Barne for adding his reflections and leading us in prayer.
